DMV TRANSFERS · ARTWORK PREPARATION

Artwork Checklist.

Review the actual file you plan to upload, at the size you want it printed. A file opening successfully is only the start of the check.

01 · SET THE INTENDED SIZE

Start with width, height and proportion.

Write down the intended print width and height. Preserve the artwork’s aspect ratio so resizing does not stretch or squash the design. Check the visible artwork as well as any blank or transparent space around it.

Use the actual garment and placement to choose the print dimensions. Follow the size & placement guide →

02 · INSPECT THE DETAIL

Check the file at its intended print size.

Look closely at edges, lettering and small details. Enlargement can reveal softness or pixelation. For raster images, the existing pixel count is shared across the inches you print.

03 · CHECK WHAT WILL PRINT

Inspect backgrounds, stray pixels and tiny text.

  • Check whether the file has the transparent or white background you intended. A white area in the artwork is different from transparency.
  • Look around the design for stray pixels or unwanted marks.
  • Review tiny text, fine lines and small gaps at the intended print size. If they are unclear, ask for guidance before ordering.
04 · REOPEN THE FINAL FILE

Review the exported version.

  • Reopen the exported file, rather than relying only on the editing document.
  • Confirm orientation, dimensions and that no artwork has been cropped or omitted.
  • For a completed gang sheet, inspect the whole layout and count every design and repeat.
  • Match the current file requirements shown by the uploader you choose.
